Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I get ice skates?
-
We recommend Blue Line Sales, the pro-shop inside the ice rink. They sell new and used skates, in addition to offering seasonal rentals. You can find their hours and more information on Facebook.
Should my skater wear hockey skates or figure skates?
-
If you're looking to simply learn the basics of being able to move on the ice, either hockey or figure skates are appropriate.
-
If a skater wants to pursue competing, participating in the Ice Show, or joining private lessons, we recommend wearing figure skates.
What should skaters wear to lessons?
-
The ice rink will be chilly, so layering is highly recommended! A hat, gloves/mittens, and a flexible jacket will help skaters stay warm.
-
Children 5 and under are required to wear a helmet.
What is the Holiday Exhibition?
-
The Holiday Exhibition is a recital before holiday break that allows skaters to demonstrate the skills they've been working on. There are no ticket sales for this event, and instead ask for a donation of a non-perishable food item.
-
The Holiday Exhibition is free to participate in. Skaters will practice a routine one or two weeks prior to the Exhibition during their normal class time.
What is the Ice Show?
-
The Ice Show is a formal recital held annually. Skaters must purchase a costume and tights (chosen and ordered by the Figure Skating Club).
-
Voting for the Ice Show theme is held at the banquet concluding every season.
