Ice Show

March 10-11, 2018

All skating members, including Learn to Skate, are invited to participate in the annual Ice Show in March. However, it is not a requirements. The primary purpose of the EAFSC Ice Show is to provide the skaters the opportunity to showcase their skills in a cooperative, enjoyable arena. To achieve this goal, the Director uses board approved Ice Show criteria.

An application will be given out early in the season, typically October, requesting your Ice Show Intent. To allow plans to be made and costumes to be ordered, it is extremely important to turn in your application on time. No late applications will be accepted. A costume deposit will be required for Ice Show participants. The deposit may not cover the complete costume cost. All skaters must pay any balances on costumes in full when costumes are delivered. Once a costume is ordered, it is the parent's obligation to make payment.

Each family is required to sell a set number of Ice Show tickets. For 2017, all families were required to sell 6 tickets. If a skater is not skating in the Ice Show, the family is still required to sell 6 Ice Show tickets to fulfill your Ice Show fundraising responsibilities. Ticket sales cover Ice Show practice ice costs and Ice Show promotions.

All skaters who have submitted an Ice Show application are required to attend all scheduled rehearsal practices and participate in all scheduled Ice Show performances. Failure to report to practices may compromise your part(s). Also, each skater must have an immediate family member volunteer on an Ice Show committee.

Criteria have been set forth for the selection of Ice Show placement of skaters. The Ice Show criteria guidelines are used so that appropriate consideration is given to all skaters in our Club. However, the ultimate goal of an Ice Show is to put on the best show possible. The purpose of the Ice Show is to provide the Club skaters an opportunity to showcase their skills, and create an enjoyable show for the public. The Ice Show Director has the responsibility of coordinating and managing the Ice Show and must follow the guidelines as established. The Ice Show Director will regularly report to the Board of Directors on the progress, procedures, and outcomes of the show.

Ice Show Placement

After completing the required Ice Show Intent application and submitting it on time, the skater will be placed in a group number based on grade level. All skaters must participate in their grade level/age group number. Skaters who withdraw from their group number will not be eligible for another part in the Ice Show. To be eligible for a second number in the EAFSC Ice Show, members must have passed Basic Level 8 by September 1 and be a Club member for at least one full year. Any skaters that have not passed this level or been in the club for one year will be assigned one number in the Ice Show (age group number), plus the Finale number.

The points system placement is used for the selection of Solos, Features, Spots, Trios, Duets and small group numbers. Points are calculated using the following:

  • Years in the Club: One point will be given to Club members for each year in the EAFSC Club.
  • Test Level: Points will be granted based on test level passed for Free Skate, Dance, and Moves.
  • Competition: Points will be granted based on competition level and number of competitions a skater competes in.

FORMULA: FS + Dance + Moves + Competition + Years in Club = TOTAL POINTS

In case of a tie, other determining factors may be considered. The Ice Show Director will determine placement based on recommendations from Ice Show committee members and the EAFSC Board.
